2 - ply Kid Mohair from Mohair by Canard
2-ply kid mohair
50 grams per bundle.
Mohair yarn of 65% kid mohair and 35% of the softest merino wool. The yarn is very light and has a running length of approx. 350 m / 100 grams. (175 m per skein)
For a single-coloured pullover in size 40, the yarn consumption is approx. 500g of the 2 strand kidmohair yarn, but there are patterns with both less and more yarn.
Please note that many of the colors are repeated in our other yarn qualities, so there are great opportunities to combine and get exciting knitting results.
Only the fine fibers from Mohairkid are used. The mohair yarn is light and gives the ready-knit sweaters a heat-regulating and comfortable effect. Due to mohair's smooth fibers, mohair is dirt and water resistant. Sweaters knitted from our 2-strand kidmohair are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. Under the outerwear, the knitted sweaters do not take up much space. If a thick and more voluminous sweater is desired, it is recommended to mix the yarn with our Brushed Lace (silk Mohair) or the 1-thread kid mohair.
Several of the colors are repeated in our other types of yarn, so mixing our different qualities in the same color can provide great unique knitting experiences for the creative.
Kidmohair is a natural product of the highest quality from South African angora goats. South Africa today accounts for approx. 50% of the world's total mohair production, and that status gives rise to great responsibility for production methods and quality.
The angora goats are cut twice a year either by hand or with machines. The animals are not harmed in any way in this process.
The mohair is sorted by length, fiber diameter and quality.
The wool is then washed, carded and brushed to ends, from where it is spun.
Dyeing of the yarn is done before or after it is spun, depending on which expression is desired in the finished yarn.
